Cash rental data by county
Farm and Ranch May 12, 2009 A significant first has been noted for USDA’s Land Value and Cash Rental Data Reports.
Barnes: “This is the first time that this information has been made available at the county detail.”
Kevin Barnes of the National Agricultural Statistics Service says data on state level land values and cash rental rates for ag land has been collected since 1997.
Barnes: “The data that is available right now provides information for cash rental rates for three types of land. That is irrigated cropland, non-irrigated cropland and pasture land.” The county level data and all cash rental information from NASS is available on line.
Barnes: “The best place to find the information is to go directly to our website, www.nass.usda.gov and through our quick stats connection there on that website they will be able to go directly to a NASS statistics data base and search that information.”
Here are some state level average rental rates in the Pacific Northwest; for irrigated cropland, $250 an acre in Washington, $195 an acre in Oregon and $145 an acre in Idaho. Cash rent for non-irrigated cropland in Washington is $74 an acre, in Idaho its $55 and in Oregon $75 dollars an acre. Again, for county level data go to the NASS website www.nass.usda.gov
