Production agriculture, be it large scale farming or ranching often gets a bad rap, but it is the animal and crop science companies that really take heat, I’m Susan Allen and I will be back with a story about waterfowl habitat preservation  that you will never hear about in the main stream media. The ability to share the sport of duck hunting with your great grandchildren could be because of the massive efforts of one of our  largest agriculture corporations, Bayer Crop Science who recently pledged  an unheard of twenty  million dollars to work with Ducks Unlimited over the next five years  to save wetland habitat, disappearing at an alarming rate. Bayer’s  investment in conservation  is the most significant sustainability commitment by an ag corporation in world history. Bayer and Ducks Unlimited will be using the funds to promote crop changes that benefit conservation in conjunction with farming and ranching. Bayer’s goal is to improve farmland productivity, secure the future of world food production, and increase wetland biodiversity. Activist love  to whine about the   “big bad”  ag companies. Face it, the massive funding needed to save preserve habitat  will  never come from grassroots greenies. Bayer Crop Science’s investment into the environment provides the incentive for other corporations to follow suit and maybe, just maybe… sideline some of the silly activists that continually dog production agriculture.
