Supervisory Training

Supervisory Training

Supervisor Training Seminar. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Anyone who has been in a supervisory or management position knows it takes a certain amount of knowledge to guide people. The Washington State Farm Bureau is presenting a seminar that will do just that according to WSFB’s Dan Fazio.

FAZIO: One of our members said I need this stuff. People are our biggest resource and if we can motivate the workers we can increase productivity. And then we started taking a look at it and agriculture is the most labor intensive industry in the world. Tree fruit guys; 60 to 70% of their total cost of their operation is labor cost.

The instructor is Gregorio Billikopf from UC Davis who is nationally renowned in the area of Agriculture Labor Management.

FAZIO: This guy is fantastic and we put together two different seminars. One of them in Spanish and it’s intended for the first line supervisor. It talks about correcting employees so they retain their dignity, motivating the workers who are under you, etc. And then there’s the afternoon session in English and that’s going to be for mid-level managers.

Supervisor’s Training Seminar set for March 10 – live in Wenatchee and live via real time video remote in Yakima, Pasco, and Mt. Vernon. This is a first for WSFB and space is limited.

FAZIO: We’ll limit the total number of people that can attend any session to 150 people statewide so that we can interact. He wants to interact with all the people and answer questions, etc.
