Washington Ag January 14, 2009 USDA Rural Development is accepting applications for grants through the Distance Learning and Telemedicine, or DLT, Grant Program to provide access to education, training and healthcare resources in rural areas. Jon DeVaney is the Washington State Director for Rural Development.
DeVaney: "USDA Rural Development's Distance Learning and Telemedicine programs allow rural residents to access the same health care and educational opportunities available in urban and suburban areas. We encourage organizations interested in applying to contact us for more information."
USDA Rural Development has provided grants totaling $4.5 million under the program in Washington State since 2003. Inland Northwest Health Services based out of Spokane received a $366,884 grant in 2008.
