Washington Ag December 26, 2008 The Risk Management Agency reminds producers there are some crop insurance sales closing dates coming up after the beginning of the new year. Dave Bearden with RMA's regional office in Spokane provides the details.
Bearden: "I know it is hard to think about spring crops but we have a winter sales closing date and also our spring sales closing date. The first of those dates being February 2nd, 2009 and that date is the sales closing date for our Adjusted Gross Revenue Pilot and also for our Adjusted Gross Revenue-Lite program. Other spring crops that fall under that February 2nd deadline are spring onions and also spring cabbage."
The February 2nd deadline for the AGR-Lite is for existing policy holders. March 16th is the deadline for new enrollment policies for AGR-Lite.
Bearden says there are a lot of options for these various policies so producers are encouraged to meet with their crop insurance agent well ahead of the deadlines to go over the options available to them. He also reminds producers of the important link between Federal Crop Insurance and the Farm Service Agency Disaster Assistance programs for the 2009 crop year.
