Washington Ag October 20, 2008 Two of the nation's leading authorities on cattle markets will discuss the 2009 Market Outlook for beef during a telephone conference scheduled for November 5th.
Tom Platt, Washington State University Extension Lincoln County
educator, says that Jim Robb, director of the Livestock Market Information Center, and Erica Rosa, agricultural economist, will be making presentations.
Platt: "Jim will send out a slide set in advance so people can look at some visuals and he and Erica will give an update on the beef market, look at supply and demand and cattle numbers today and beef production, the economy, the dollar and all those factors to help people look down the road the 2009 marketing year and get some better idea of where cattle prices are going."
Ranchers can participate from home, join with neighbors or a local cattle producers' organization to participate. A slide set will be available on November 3 to illustrate the telephone presentation. Those with Internet access can download it at http://livestocktopics.wsu.edu ,where instructions for dialing into the telephone conference are also posted.
Platt asks that participants contact him in advance at 509-725-4171.
