Washington Ag July 4, 2008 A new series of podcasts from Washington State University Extension will help answer consumer questions about food safety issues. Each "Food Safety in a Minute" podcast offers listeners a handy, easy to apply tip. For example here is part of one. Podcast: "There are many things you can do to plan ahead for emergencies that include power outages. Stock emergency supplies and establish a family plan. Supplies should include adequate food and water for your family members and for your pets." The Food Safety in a Minute series addresses a wide gamut of issues, including holiday food safety, packing school lunches to insure children are eating safe food, how long to store canned food and many other topics. New podcasts in the series are posted each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The Food Safety in a Minute web page is at http://cahnrsnews.wsu.edu/foodsafety/ WSU Extension says with 76 million Americans a year experiencing a food-borne illness the podcasts are a series you can't afford to miss.
