Kirkland Uncorked. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
Summer is almost here and along with it new fruit on the vine and the festivals that celebrate the end result. Last year a new event kicked off in Kirkland, Washington called Kirkland Uncorked. Philly Hoshko is the event director.
HOSHKO: Kirkland Uncorked is a festival of style and taste and it basically is a celebration of wine, food, lifestyle, art and music. One of the main features at the event is the lifestyle and tasting garden where we do have over 20 Washington wineries sampling their wines.
Of course there will be food offered and even a grilling contest. In addition to the wine and food the event is married with Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine. They are hoping to reach out to a broader audience.
HOSHKO: One of the goals of creating this event was so that it was a little bit different than other wine tastings. One of the differences is the lower price point of entering the wine garden.
That price is only $20 in advance. Hoshko also says they are trying to make Kirkland Uncorked in to one of the premiere signature events in the area.
HOSHKO: Now we do have activities going on in downtown Kirkland and some of those include the Northwest Marine Trade Association they're coming out and doing a discover boating showcase. We also have the Northwest Art alliance bringing over 60 artists to downtown Kirkland.
The event is July 18 through 20 at Marina Park in Kirkland. For more details visit kirklanduncorked.com.
