04/25/08 The horses are (almost) at the post

On the track the thoroughbreds are in training, fine tuning for the kickoff next Friday of the Idaho horse racing season. The 46 day season at Les Bois Park runs through August 16th In the stable area, all 800 stalls are rented. This time of year the stable owners and their trainers have one goal in mind. BROBECK "Win 'em all." Hoss Brobeck from the Paul Treasure Stables in Hammett is serious about the 2008 racing season and has brought a large contingent of horses to the track in Garden City. BROBECK ""24 horses. We've got about 18, 19 babies. We go from here to Idaho Falls." Thoroughbreds and quarter horses compete at Les Bois three days a week during the late spring and summer at a track where the attendance dropped because of problems with the prior operators. SPOKESMAN -"This is Capital Racing's third year of operation here in Idaho. Our program has grown each year but this year the owners and trainers have gone out and recruited and brought aboard more and faster horses."
