04/16/08 Celebrating Tax Day

Welcome to Vine to Wine, this is your host Linda Moran and today we are talking taxes! A listener once wrote to ask what would be a good wine to give her tax accountant as a thank you gift. Apparently, she saved her a lot of money. So today let's talk celebrating the upcoming completion of your taxes. Okay your tax accountant has done a great job for you and you want to reward her with a nice bottle of wine but you don't know what to get. First of all, determine your budget and ask yourself, just how much did she save me? If it was a bundle and you want to buy something truly extravagant there are a number of very nice Champagnes out there, for over $100 per bottle, that would certainly show your appreciation. Everyone is impressed by a bottle of Dom Perignon or Veuve Cliquot's Le Grand Dame. If you don't like the idea of Champagne, then ask for a recommendation from your local wine merchant. They are up on the wine trends, and can recommend something worthy of aging, and within your budget. If you are still bewildered, then purchase a nice gift certificate and let her pick out her own gift. However, don't put too much pressure on yourself. The stress of taxes is supposed to be over! This is just an additional show of appreciation. My recommendation? If you actually make the deadline - without an extension - get a nice bottle of wine for yourself and celebrate! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net, and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
