You've heard of a meal fit for a king. I'm Jeff Keane, and right after this I'll tell you about a meal fit for someone else.
I just read about a meal fit for a king, queen, their knights, ladies in waiting and the court jester. Actually, this meal would be more fit for the giant of "Jack and the Beanstalk" fame. What was this feast? Well, it is one of my favorites and one of America's all-time favorites it's a hamburger. Only thing is, this is not your ordinary run-of-the mill burger. We're talking a 134-pound delight called the "Absolutely Ridiculous Burger". This beauty is the masterpiece of Mallies Sports Bar and Grill based in the Detroit area. It's always been said competition is a good thing and this hamburger that claims to have broken the world record for "largest hamburger commercially available" proves that theory. Restaurant owner, Steve Mallie insists his burger outweighs the 123-pound burger made last year by Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Mallie's burger costs $350, features beef, bacon, and cheese, is served on a 50 pound bun, requires a 24 hour notice to order it and takes 12 hours to prepare and bake. It needs three people using steel sheets to flip this mammoth. Just think of the catsup, mustard and mayo not to mention the lettuce needed for a token vegetable. This is definitely not fast food and gives a whole new meaning to Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise". I might even have to invite one person to help me around this one.
I'm Jeff Keane.
