Double R Ranch Partnership Part 2

Double R Ranch Partnership Part 2

I'm KayDee Gilkey and welcome to Open Range. Here's Greg with today's report.

Thanks KayDee. Last week we talked to Jeff Van Lith with AgriBeef about the new partnership between Double R Ranch and Albertson's. Some 32 Albertson's stores in the inter-mountain area will be getting their beef from Double R Ranch. Van Lith says the history of Double R was key to the partnership.

VAN LITH: For one thing, Double R Ranch and the Double R brand was named after our founder Robert Rebholtz, Sr. Robert passed away in 1999. When we developed the Double R Ranch brand, we wanted to have quality cattle in the program. They're going to put Bob's name on the brand so they knew they had to be quality cattle.

He talks about the kinds of cattle that make up the quality Double R beef.

VAN LITH: The cattle are non-breed specific but they are English and English cross. We exclude in the program, we exclude any cattle with dairy influence, any roping cattle, any geared cattle of southern influence. The big thing with the partnership that we have made with Albertson's to be their exclusive beef provider in the 32 stores in Idaho is that it's local.

He says that is a crucial part.

VAN LITH: One thing about this program is that when you do buy the beef in those Albertson's stores, that product comes from the northwest and hopefully that money that is spent in those stores stays in the northwest and helps support the economy.

I'm Greg Martin and that's today's AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don't forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I'm KayDee Gilkey.
