Farm and Ranch December 26, 2007 In the past few years FMC Agricultural Products has expanded the portfolio of products it has for growers to use on potatoes. Sally Behringer, who represented FMC at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting's Trade Talk says one of those products is Ranman fungicide.
Behringer: "Which is a brand new mode of action fungicide. One of the key diseases it does control is pink rot, which can a devastating disease. It also controls several other pythium diseases. It is unique in that it controls the entire life cycle of the disease not just one particular part of the life cycle."
FMC also has a new insecticide called Beleaf. That's B-e-l-e-a-f.
Behringer: "Which is again, a brand new mode of action for potatoes. It is a great fit in a rotation. Another insecticide we have for potatoes is Capture LFR, which just had a label expansion late this year. So it will be available in 2008 also for use on potatoes."
Ranman and Beleaf are registered for use on other vegetables and fruits too. Last year FMC's Mustang Max insecticide had its label expanded to include potatoes.
Behringer says you can get more information about FMC products at www.cropsolutions.fmc.com
