11/06/07 Barley workshops

The Idaho Barley Commission is offering another round of advanced grain marketing and risk management workshops. The two sessions will be held next Tuesday, November 13th in Idaho Falls and the following day, November 14th at Burley. Idaho Barley Commission's Kelly Olson says producers are enjoying very high grain prices these days but they're also faced with higher input costs especially for fuel and fertilizers. OLSON "This workshop will focus on pre-harvest marketing strategies; walk them through a logical methodical way to put a grain marketing plan together. We're going to do a simulation so they can apply the tools that we teach them. We're going to update information on crop insurance policies." Each session will wrap up with a focus on two production risk management issues; irrigation efficiency and fertility management. It's a great educational opportunity for only 25 dollars and that includes the cost of lunch for the sessions. Producers are encouraged to pre-register by calling the Idaho Barley Commission office in Boise at 334-2090 or email Kelly Olson at kolson@idahobarley.org. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
