The Risk Management Agency says Idaho and Northwest producers who want Multi Peril Crop Insurance for the 2008 crop year are facing deadlines next month.
SEUFER "Particularly those are perennial crops, your apples, cherries, fresh apricots, fresh peaches and nectarines, grapes and pears is November 20th. Pasture rangeland forage pilot and that is November 30th."
Jo Lynn Seufer at the RMA office in Spokane says there are selected counties in Idaho and Oregon that are eligible for the Pasture Rangeland Forage Pilot. One area where there has been expanded insurance coverage is for grapes in some southwestern Idaho counties.
SEUFER "Ada, Elmore, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties will be able to go straight to an insurance agent and obtain grape insurance."
Seufer says growers should contact their insurance agent to get the ball rolling and they should also inquire about other programs or options like the revenue program, AGR-Lite.
SEUFER "You may find an alternative that includes both yield and revenue risk protection."
