08/23/07 Milk price forecast

The price that dairy farmers are getting for their milk is at a record high. BANGE " That World Outlook Board chairman Gerry Bange. He says prices for 2008 will be strong but not as these record levels. BANGE " Bange says there is 'constrained growth in US milk production.' Bange says record prices are leading to dairy herd expansion but there's less expansion in milk output per cow. Bange cites two reasons, the short supplies of high prices alfalfa and less use of BST. BANGE " Partly because three major supermarket chains have announced that all private label milk sold in their stores must be certified BST growth hormone free. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
