A horse named buttons, I'm Jeff Keane and I'll be right back with more on the story of this kingly sire. Best known for producing legendary performance ability and uncanny cow sense the horse named "Buttons" later found himself to be the acclaimed King-P234. Here is Becky with more on how this striking stallion came to impact the American Quarter Horse Association. This 1932 colt by racing legend Zantanon and out the hog backed mare Jabalina commanded to be recognized. Changing hands several times through his 26 years, it seemed that nearly everyone who encountered this flawless blood bay was compelled to own him. Not even a year old and into the hands of his third owner it was then decided that a horse of such regal bearing would be better suited with the name "King". While he was not the fasted horse around he never wasted a movement and was well fitted for cattle work, roping, and reining. By 1940, and the formation of the AQHA King had been laying the groundwork with his progeny. Siring 658 registered foals with 20 AQHA Champions, King's offspring included the legends Poco Bueno and Continental King. He was regarded as the industries most revered stallion of all time, King aka "buttons" produced what has become standard rule in the world of cutting, reining, and cow horse events. It turns out that all of the "Kings" horses can get the job done, and they continue to prove their nobility still today by dominating the events they have been bred to master, I'm Jeff Keane.
