Ag Disaster Assistance & A tribute to my Moms. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.
The U.S. House of Representatives late last week, approved 3.5 billion dollars in agricultural disaster assistance for producers affected by devastating weather conditions. The 302-120 vote was enough to override a threatened presidential veto. The disaster funding assists producers who suffered crop and livestock losses from weather-related disasters during 2005, 2006 or 2007. Eligibility is based on whether producers carried crop insurance during the selected year.
A little deviation from the Northwest News today since yesterday was Mother's Day I wanted to add my two cents. You knew I would. I have been blessed with not only one Mom, but two. I'm adopted. It was a family sort of issue and over the years I have gotten to know my natural mom and her family as well, in fact, we are all good friends. Having two moms is a bit unusual but what is not is the feeling I have for them and the sacrifices they have made. Moms just do that. They just do things in a selfless manner regardless of their own needs. And for that, I just wanted to publicly say&thanks mom. Both of you.
Now with today's Food Forethought, here's Susan Allen.
