03/29/07 Subway adds milk

Add Subway to the growing list of restaurant chains to offer low fat white and reduced fat chocolate milk in plastic, single serve bottles. Chris Moore of Dairy Management Inc., the group that manages the national dairy checkoff, says it's a big step forward. MOORE -"Subway had not offered milk on its menu in the past, so this is truly an incremental distribution and sales opportunity. But, what's really nice and rewarding about the Subway milk introduction is that milk is being marketed not only to kids as part of the kids' meal, but also for adults." Moore says adult milk demand was a key factor in adding Subway to a list of restaurants that now offer milk in plastic bottles. MOORE "This is a big win for dairy checkoff , adding Subway to the roster of now 54-thousand restaurants that are offering milk in plastic re-sealable bottles, because it's the next step in meeting unmet consumer demand, offering consumers the opportunity to purchase milk, whenever, wherever they want, in the form that they want." Dairy producers will continue to work with Subway to promote new milk offerings throughout the summer and fall. Subway with more than 20 thousand locations across the US is the nation's largest restaurant chain. Today's Idaho Ag News Bill Scott
