Committed to Reform & Animal ID meetings. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.
According to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez - the administration is committed to securing immigration reform. That's what they told the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday.
According to the President's State of the Union Address this year - reform should include securing the nation's borders, enhancing interior and work-site enforcement and creating a temporary-worker program without amnesty.
The American Farm Bureau Federation is supporting that vision. And Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman says the organization is hopeful Congress will respond to the administration's leadership and work cooperatively to enact a law that provides labor force stability for growers today and in the future.
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has scheduled two public meetings to discuss the implementation of private and state animal identification number device distribution databases for the animal identification component of the National Animal Identification System - a voluntary program. The meetings will be held the afternoon of March 5th and the morning of March 6th - as well as the afternoon of March 12th and the morning of March 13th. Both meetings will be held at the Hilton Kansas City Airport in Kansas City, Missouri.
Now here's today's Washington Grange.
