The 12 Annual Larry Branen Ag Summit paid tribute to five people this year for their contributions to Idaho agriculture. This week we'll let you hear from folks like Life Time Achievement winner Wayne Thiessen who saw the need for the Idaho Quality Assurance Lab.
THIESSEN "A food quality lab was essential for Idaho's food safety needs in the future."
Lowell and JoAnn Grimm take pride in their Canyon County farm and its shows in their love and care for the land.
GRIMM "My dad had I guess a philosophy on how to take care of the land, an example to me to try and take care of what you had."
Michael Cranney and his brothers grow potatoes near Oakley, lot of potatoes. He was honored for his role in education, especially with the younger generation of farmers.
CRANNEY "A lot of these young guys they're trying to make a living and it's so competitive and we need to nurture some of these young people."
Speaking of education, there's the final Governor's award winner, Doctor Joe Geunthner of the University of Idaho.
GEUNTHNER "I'm bullish on the Idaho potato industry but I'm also bullish on the global potato industry."
