02/28/07 Gov`s Award, Grimm

Lowell Grimm says he learned it from his father; take care of the land, care for what you have. He's tried to do that on the land he's farmed in Ada and now Canyon County. GRIMM "A cousin of my Dad who was involved in soil conservation districts and the first thing I knew he gave me the opportunity to serve with the Ada Soil Conservation District and the first thing I knew I was on the board and that opened a vast array of things that I had probably been practicing but really didn't have the terminology to know what it meant." With wife JoAnn they employed their best management practices for decades and watched their dairy grow from twelve cows to 130, mostly raised right there on the farm. JOANN GRIMM "And then when we built this house we wanted it open to the land so we can see it every day. We love to look at it." The Grimms' love of the land is obvious. GRIMM "We'll we're only stewards of the land. We are only on earth for a short time and it's our obligation to take care of that." JOANN "Oh I guess its just God's gift to us." JoAnn and Lowell Grimm honored with a Governor's Award for their contributions to agriculture. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
