Nick Ysabel is a senior at the University of Idaho but he's spent most of his summers working on the farm. Nick grew up on what was sagebrush covered land cleared by his great-grandfather who came from Spain to Marsing in Owyhee County.
YSABEL "We have corn, hay, barley and wheat, 600 acres total. Everybody works. I think I work pretty hard. I work all day long so, but I guess that's all just part of the job and getting things done, getting things done on time so that you have crops that are ready when they need to be and good quality crops."
Ysabel joined the Young Farmers and Ranchers after hearing about the organization at the U of I.
YSABEL "And its really interesting to see the different viewpoints even within the ag group of kids that are there that you can have and it kind of broadens your scope of what can be done and what is being done."
And what does he want to do after graduation?
YSABEL "Teaching ag education at the high school level. There are still students out there that are interested in ag whether it be the welding part, or mechanics or crops or livestock."
