Horts annual meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
The tree fruit industry is getting to come together next week in Yakima for the Washington State Horticultural Associations Annual Meeting.
HAZEN: The theme of the 102nd annual meeting is Sense & Sensibility: Sustainable Business Practices. So we're really trying to focus in on profitability, productivity, returning money back to the land. And the meeting is just loaded with cutting edge talks designed to help growers produce better results in the orchard, in the warehouse and improve their bottom line.
That's Jim Hazen, Executive Director for the Association.
HAZEN: You know it's the largest educational conference in the nation for the tree fruit industry. It's deep in history. You know 102 years the Association has been putting on an educational conference and the conference is really aimed at keeping the industry on that cutting edge. It's all about identifying trends and trying to stay ahead of the trends and with the mind set that you have to be competitive and you have to return money back to the land. There are a lot of challenges out there right now confronting the tree fruit industry.
The 3 day meeting gets underway bright and early this coming Monday morning at the Yakima Convention Center. For more information and to register visit their website at www.wahort.org.
