Members of the United Fresh Potato Growers of Idaho will be in Pocatello next week for two days of meetings. United CEO Jerry Wright says the annual meeting is important because many issues will be presented to growers.
WRIGHT "We'll review the year. We will continue to lay out the plan for the coming marketing season. We'll have the crop under cover. We'll be reporting exactly what we've got and what are strategy are to market it rationally so that we can get the biggest return, the best return for growers."
The two-day session in Pocatello is held at the same time that the Potato Growers of Idaho and the Southern Idaho Potato Cooperative are also meeting. Wright says these meetings at the Ramada Inn are open to all growers, whether they're members of the United co-op or not.
WRIGHT "The vast majority of them really do believe in the fact that if they control the acres that they will see a greater return and they're going to see it again this year."
There's also a workshop on the potato cyst nematode. If you need more information about the meetings on November 15th and 16th you'll find it as the United Fresh Potato Growers website, www.unitedpotato.com
