From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. If you’ve been putting it off, now is the time to register for next month’s annual Washington State Tree Fruit Association Golf Tournament.

WSTFA President, Jon DeVaneys says it will be held Wednesday, August 26th at the Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee …

DeVANEY … “This is an event we do every year, partly as a social event or members of the industry after cherries have pretty much wrapped up and we’re in the beginning of apple and pear harvest.”

Besides being a social event …

DeVANEY … “But also raise funds for scholarships that are funded in the name and memory of past industry leaders. It’s really a chance to recognize the people of the industry, both those of the past and those of the future who will benefit from those scholarship funds, many of which are managed and awarded through the Washington Apple Education Foundation.”

And if you’re interested, DeVaney says there’s still space available …

DeVANEY … “We’re always happy to have sponsors and we’re always happy to have additional teams. We do still have some spaces available. We don’t overfill the course so that it’s a fun day out and not just the day spent waiting your turn. But we do still have a few spaces left and encourage folks to sign up.”

So, to sign up …

DeVANEY … “You can do it online at our website, www.wstfa.org and go to the events tab and the golf tournament.”

Again, that’s www.wstfa.org to sign up or for more information.
