The Carpophilus beetle (Carpophilus truncatus) is an invasive sap beetle first confirmed in California almonds in 2023. It causes severe kernel damage by boring into hull-split nuts to lay eggs. Brent Holtz, UC almond farm advisor in San Joaquin County explains.
