House Clears Year‑Round E15 Bill in Bipartisan Win; Senate Next

“It got decoupled from the farm bill, and the Rules Committee had the option of making it a standalone or an amendment to the farm bill again, but the Farm Bill had already passed, and so as our ladies and gentlemen up on the hill walked around and knocked on every congressional door, they pushed and to get, we knew it was going to be close. But I think that standalone made the difference, the modification to the Clean Air Act that allows the sale, it just allows the sales and the choice of E15 year-round.”
With the cost of fuel right now, Schneider says E15 can be a solution for a cost-effective option, although it's now through the house, the next hurdle is to get it through the Senate.
“If the Senate were to put, were to put it in the Farm Bill, it would have challenges with the SNAP benefits, the changes to snap and the nutrition, so a standalone is our best option. And I think you look at the vote, it was a true bipartisan vote. There's 218 that voted for it, and it was a mixture of Republicans and Democrats.”
Schneider believes that the strong relationships that NCGA has with the Senate will lead to the passage of a year-round E15 sales bill.
