Trent and Kaley Rumsey, the relatable ranchers sharing everyday life. Rumsey Cattle Company is a fourth generation cattle ranch and homestead in southeast Idaho. David Sparks, Idaho AG today. Speaker 2: I think we've had such a weird winter this year because usually we're in snow and in November at least December is usually our slow point because we're just feeding cows and checking things. We don't really start calving season. So about end of February till April is our go time. It is like our Super Bowl of ranching. It's just a real hurry up. Speaker 3: And wait time of year. Like it's either a lot going on or it's not a whole lot a typical day. We're just unfreezing waters when it's super cold, making sure everything has water, feeding, checking cows, see what's calving, making sure everything's in good body condition. That's about it. Speaker 2: I think the hardest part about right now, though, is like it's a 24 over seven thing. We don't get to leave. You were checking cows all night long, all day long, because you never know when they're going to calve. And you never know if something's going to go wrong. You have to be there and make sure the bag is off the calf's head so it doesn't suffocate. Make sure you're there to pull the calf. If the mom's having troubles, like it's a very intense but slow process. Yeah. Speaker 3: A tougher thing with us is where we're smaller. We're everything bigger guys. They have the feed crew, the night shift crew, the day we're everything. So I'm up checking at night, then getting up and feeding and checking the day. Speaker 1: The Ramseys have a good life, but it surely is not easy. God bless them.
