US Seafood Industry Gets Support

"It's stood up as of today. We have been working on it over the last almost eight months, and wanted to get all of our T's crossed and our I's dotted. It is now open today, everything from crop protection tools to prioritizing seafood on the international stage. When you think about it in the context of the Make America healthy again movement and what this particular industry means for making America healthy again, all of those come into play. I was a little startled that USDA has never had an office for seafood. We've never had an advocate for seafood. For all of the programs that are at USDA, all of them, from beginning, farmers and ranchers to risk mitigation when there's weather incidents, etc. Now, all of that is on the table.
Once again, USDA Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, the USDA office will help those in the seafood industry with grants and loans to support infrastructure and workforce development, procurement of us seafood products, marketing, and promotion of seafood products in both domestic and foreign markets. And can also assist with and will also be able to assist with risk management and disaster assistance with today's line on agriculture report. I'm Lorrie Boyer for the Ag Information Network.
