10/24/06 Joining YFR

YFR is a Farm Bureau's program for men and women age 18 to 35. The Young Farmer and Rancher program offers opportunities for leadership development, legislative awareness, education conferences and a change to get to know other farmers and ranchers. For Greg Bingham of Weston talking to others was very helpful. BINGHAM "Seeing potato farmers because we don't raise potatoes and seeing cattlemen and being with them and especially being around the young people and seeing what issues they face I realize that number one that I'm not alone with my problems." Nick Ysabel of Owyhee County says some of his friends at the University of Idaho encouraged him to attend a YFR meeting in Moscow. He soon joined up. YSABEL "And it's really interesting to see the different viewpoints even within the ag group of the kids that are there that you can have and it kind of broadens your scope of what can be done and what is being done." As Bingham put it, BINGHAM "You know we're all in it together and to try to help one another out. If one of us benefits I feel we all benefit."
