How many acres of U.S. farmland is rented to ag producers for growing crops? According to USDA's latest ten year Ownership and Transmission of Agricultural Land Survey. Speaker 2: Those landlords collectively rented out 350 million acres of farmland. Speaker 1: Bryan Combs of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, says acreage for 2024 applied to farmland owners who are both operating farmers and non-operating landlords. Speaker 2: There were over 2 million landlords who leased agricultural land to farmers. This is a slight increase from 2014. Speaker 1: The last time this once in a decade survey was conducted. Additional findings from the survey. Rented farmland acreage, including buildings, are valued at $1.6 trillion. Landlords in 2024 received over $34 billion in rental income while incurring $12 billion in operating expenses.
