A recent webinar examining the role of technology in ranching is now available for replay on YouTube. The program, titled Rural Resilience: Ranch Tech – GPS Ear Tags and Fall Drone Seeding, features rancher and farmer Matt Lankford along with Canadian producer Steve Kenyon.

Lankford discusses how tools such as smart ear tags are used on his ranch, not just to improve efficiency but to create more time away from daily management demands. He says the decision to adopt technology became personal as he tried to balance work with family life.

“And one thing, having four kids, is I know that a lot of life is lived off of the farm and off of the ranch. And that's one thing that I was missing. And I was missing a lot of my child's and my kids' life. And you don't realize that until you go through a life lesson and somebody says there's more important things than more acres and more money and more cows. You've got one chance at this and how do you free up your time?”

The webinar also includes Steve Kenyon, who shares how air technology, including drones, is being used for fall seeding in Canada. The full replay is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3w7pqhGqCI
