New Brand-New Plan or U.S. Pears
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. From a new logo to new messaging, Pears grown here in the Northwest and around the country are getting a new, fun, fresh and modern look for consumers to enjoy. With a registered dietician added to the staff, Pear Bureau Northwest President and CEO, CarrieAnn Arias says it’s a new brand and new plan …
ARIAS … “Most people have seen the new logo by now, but we did bring a registered dietician on to the mix for a couple of reasons. I actually wore two hats and did the job for a few months when it was an open position to really understand what I felt that we needed for the industry. And one of the things I think was really missing is the opportunity for us to talk about nutrition.”
And Arias says it won’t be just our marketers talking about nutrition …
ARIAS … “But an actual dietician that has the education and the schooling and the initials at the end of their name that creates the validity for other nutritionists to start telling the story about pears.”
Arias says Barbara Ruhs brings the knowhow to spread that message …
ARIAS … “It’s a strategic move. Barb comes to us with a lot of experience. So, that certainly helps us a lot as we start to build a plan for what’s to come for pears.”
Bottom line, Arias says pears are good for us …
ARIAS … “So, the nutrition pieces is definitely one of the tent poles, if you will, for the coming years, but the other piece of it really is talking about how pears look and normalizing the appearance of a pear.”
