The National Bison Association is launching a major educational effort supported by a new US Department of Agriculture grant to help rebuild herd numbers and expand the industry to meet the growing demand for bison products. National bison Association Executive Director Jim Matheson, shares more about the initiative and its goals.

“We've got a new bison specific grant that's been awarded to us and a couple other organizations that's going to allow us to revamp our educational products, top from the top down. So in the next two years, you're going to see a lot more new, innovative educational materials coming out of the NBA, including print handbooks, of course, but also things like video training series and online training series.”

Additionally, Matheson said the association is exploring artificial intelligence for the first time, looking to implement it as a new tool to better support members and improve industry efficiency.

“And that's going to allow the members of the National Dyson association to ask a question into the AI bot, as it were, what should I do for bison fencing in Wyoming? And it'll come up with everything that we have and among our resources, from print to video to online, to answer that question. So, really pursuing the educational front to again, continue to recruit the next generation of bison producers,

once again.”
