Just over a year after Hurricane Helene tore through Georgia, relief is finally on the way. Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper and USDA Secretary Brooke L. Rollins announced that the state will receive $531.2 million in federal funds through the Hurricane Helene Block Grant Program. The program is designed to help cover ongoing economic losses, infrastructure damage, and timber setbacks caused by the storm.

“I am incredibly proud to announce the State of Georgia will receive $531,236,000 in federal funding to provide much-needed relief to impacted farmers and producers,” Harper said. He noted that the state invested hundreds of hours in negotiations to secure the maximum possible support and thanked Rollins and the USDA team for their strong partnership.

Rollins emphasized the hardships Georgia’s producers endured in 2024, adding, “The Trump Administration has our farmers' backs and will ensure they have the resources they need to continue to produce the safest, most reliable, and most abundant food supply in the world.”

Final program details and application instructions will be announced soon.
