Getting ready for the convention. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
The Washington State Horticulture Association's Annual Meeting is coming up the first week in December. Jim Hazen, President of HORT says this year's meeting will have something for everyone.
HAZEN: We aim to please at the Washington State Horticultural Association. You know it takes about a year to put the annual meeting together, the three day educational conference and they've been working pretty hard on this years meeting. The theme of the 102nd annual meeting is Sense & Sensibility: Sustainable Business Practices. So we're really trying to focus in on profitability, productivity, returning money back to the land.
This years meeting will take place December 4, 5 & 6 at the Yakima Convention Center. Hazen says information will be out shortly.
HAZEN: We are set to go to the printer with the program guide this week and we will probably be ready to mail the program guide and the registration form sometime in the last week in October. So sign ups will start that first week in November and of course people can call us now if they know they want to go to the meeting and sign up for the meeting.
According to Hazen, there are a lot of reasons to make plans to attend.
HAZEN: It's the largest educational conference in the nation for the tree fruit industry. The conference is really aimed at keeping the industry on that cutting edge. It's all about trying to identify trends and staying ahead of the trends.
