Knowing how the crop is developing on a global scale can be very valuable to farmers, traders, insurers, and agribusinesses. Through the use of satellites, EarthDaily hopes to identify yield shifts long before traditional forecasts are released. EarthDaily’s Nick Ohrtman says this is why they are launching a constellation of satellites designed with ag in mind.
Ohrtman… “ We have launched one of 10 satellites already into orbit. That new constellation is gonna provide daily coverage of five meter resolution imagery across 22 spectral bands. And, really is gonna create the first AI ready dataset for advanced analytics from remote sensing.”
Orthman says the constellation will bring something new to ag data.
Ohrtman… “ It was designed with agriculture in mind first. It's not something that was built for other reasons and then it also has an ag use case. The whole constellation was designed around ag, and especially addressing a lot of the sort of what might be the common issues in the past where it's, inconsistent data from one source to another, patching together imagery from multiple different sources.”
EarthDaily has been around for a long time, previously under the name Geosys.
