Welcome to Vine to Wine, this is your host Linda Moran. Do you ever wonder about a wine that is given a very high rating and it costs less than say fifteen dollars? Better yet less than ten? Does it make you wonder when you pay forty, fifty, or more dollars for a wine? Let's chat about that on today's program.
Okay so you have just tasted a wine that you know is above the pack of wines in its price range, let's say less than fifteen dollars, and you can hardly believe it when you leaf through a wine magazine or go on line and discover it is very highly rated by the critics. Does it make you pause and ask yourself if maybe there aren't more wines out there just like it? The answer is most likely yes and if you review the wine publications and internet sites there are consistently articles and evaluations dedicated to that topic. Some of those spendy wines are not spendy because they are so much better but more likely because the availability is limited. This may be a good thing in that this wine has been given close attention and a lot of TLC. However, most likely it is because it carries with it a pedigree in that not everyone can have it. That makes it even more attractive. I will tell you most of those spendy wines have a good deal to loose if they were allowed their wines to be judged next to less expensive wines so that will rarely happen. My advice, buy what you like within your budget and be thankful, and stock up, on those gems that come along in your price bracket.
