Netafim, a global leader in precision irrigation, announced today a new partnership with Treetoscope. The irrigation management platform uses plant sensing technology to inform irrigation practices for tree crops. Netafim’s Mike Hemman says the partnership with Treetoscope will provide farmers with broader access to real-time, data-driven irrigation recommendations.
Hemman… “ How do we know how much water the plant needs? We can estimate it and we can say, based on the weather and based on the ET calculations, it should be about this much water and we can deliver that water. But we don't know for sure if that's what's needed - we're guessing. Now we can go a step more and we can actually put a soil moisture sensor in. But we're still counting on agronomy models and algorithms to say, if this much water is in the soil, then we believe this much water should be within the tree. What (Treetoscope) allows us to do is actually put the sensor on the tree and measure the water flow inside of the tree instead of estimating or measuring soil moisture. So that allows the GrowSphere system to know exactly how much water needs to be delivered.”
Over the next year, the collaboration will expand across North and Latin America, with plans to target additional global markets in 2026 and beyond.
