Earth Day
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. As Americans observed Earth Day yesterday, the environment is something that was on farmers’ minds like it is everyday. And American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall wants to remind us that farmers are the original conservationists …
DUVALL … “Farmers know words like climate-smart, sustainability, and regenerative are just new buzzwords for what we have been doing for decades, protecting natural resources and promoting soil health.
And as farmers, Duvall says protecting our soil is what we have to do …
DUVALL … “Farmers are at the forefront of regenerative practices like cover cropping, composting, and crop rotation, to name a few.”
Being a farmer and growing our food is not easy, Duvall says but it’s necessary …
DUVALL … “We have a big job to do, growing the food, fiber and renewable fuel that families rely on. That’s why we continue to innovate and adopt new technology … because efficiency and sustainability go hand-in-hand.”
And without healthy soil, Duvall says we don’t have a job or food to eat …
DUVALL … “Whether farmers are working with 100 acres or 10,000 acres, we all need healthy soil, and we’re committed to doing right by the land to ensure the soil is healthy this season and for seasons to come.”
That’s Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
