It’s a big year for peanut progress, from allergy breakthroughs to research innovation. Registration is now open for the 57th annual meeting of the American Peanut Research and Education Society, taking place July 15–17 in Richmond, Virginia. The event will bring together researchers, educators, growers, and industry professionals for scientific presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and—for the first time—a special grower-focused session. Early bird registration ends May 31, with discounted rooms available at the Omni Richmond Hotel. Meanwhile, the National Peanut Board is accepting proposals for its second annual round of food allergy research grants, with up to $550,000 in funding available. Applications are open through May 9. Projects will be evaluated through a health equity lens, and early-career researchers are encouraged to apply. “Our farmers have always believed that if peanuts were part of the allergy problem, we’d be part of the solution,” said Board Chair Casey Cox Kerr.

Together, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to science, collaboration, and the future of peanuts.
