“Sign up will remain open until August 15 of this year. If you do not want to wait for that pre filled application, you can visit your local office. You can visit our website. You can apply there as well. Eligible producers must report their 2024 crop year planted and prevented planted acres to USDA. And if you have not done that, you just need to do it before the filing deadline. We are working on sending pre filled applications to farmers who submitted your acreage reports already for 2024.
Appleton explains there are related online tools and calculations for the ECAP program. We'll roll
out a slew of tools for you to use on our website, calculator, FAQ, document, if you will. But ECAP assistance will be calculated using a flat payment rate for the eligible commodity multiplied by the eligible reported acres. And then payments are based on acreage and not production. So for recorded acres, such as prevented plant, the ECAP assistance will be calculated at 50%.”
USDA Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins has emphasized the importance of this program in improving the agricultural economy and ensuring farmers receive necessary assistance. The ECAP program will provide 10 billion in aid to farmers facing economic challenges.
