US wheat plays a key role in food aid, dedicating significant efforts to programs like Food for Peace, which purchases American-grown wheat to feed starving populations worldwide. This program ranks among the top US wheat exports, providing both humanitarian relief and economic benefits for farmers. President Donald Trump has set a clear direction for evaluating and maintaining the value of food aid programs for both recipients and American wheat producers. Peter Loudeman, Director of Trade Policy with US Wheat Associates.

The Food for Peace program, historically administered by USAID as well as the food for progress program administered by USDA, both had sort of wheat purchases that were sort of in the queue. We weren't 100% sure what the status of those was going to be very happy to say today that all of those purchases that were in the queue, both for Food for Peace and Food For Progress, have all proceeded relatively as scheduled.

He says the USDA had significant wheat shipments set to move forward, and US Wheat work closely with the Trump administration and USDA to ensure their continuation. This collaboration allows for tracking where, how, and what type of wheat is distributed.

We spend a lot of time trying to follow kind of from the farmer side, but also internationally. And have even taken groups of farmers internationally in the past to be able to see some of that and distribution of where US weed is able to be helpful overseas.
