Summer in Idaho means fairs and rodeos. Its competition on many levels. For some of these kids it's their first real exposure to the rodeo arena. For some it's the first exposure to four legged animals.
WILL THOMPSON "I'm Will Thompson, I'm seven years old and this is the first time I've been on a horse. How do I get off?"
YF&R member and parent Chris Dallee is the clown on this day in Inkom at the Kids Rodeo. First event, stick horse barrel racing for kids too young to ride a real horse.
DALLEE "Oh, Owen is going. Let's go Owen."
Then its time for the chicken scramble, little ones first, then the big kids try to chase them down.
And before you know it its time to grease up the pig.
And then the grand finale, Mutton Busting.
It does make you want to be a kid again, doesn't it? The Voice of Idaho Agriculture is brought to you by the Idaho Farm Bureau and the Northwest Ag Information Network.
