Ag Leadership Program Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. Building leaders in agriculture. That’s the goal of the Ag Leadership Program, from the Washington Department of Agriculture and the Washington State Tree Fruit Association. As an ALP graduate, Viri Acevedo says it’s well worth the effort …
ACEVEDO … “It’s a 40-hour program, one day a week for six weeks. And then you have six weeks off to practice and then you come back once more, and you do a presentation of how ALP has allowed you to work on a skill or maybe your emotional intelligence. And you get to talk about it and then you graduate.”
And all questions, Acevedo says are welcome …
ACEVEDO … “As soon as you’re trying to register, it’s a very easy step to do so, and if you are struggling in any way, there’s phone numbers and emails you can contact personnel that can assist you. And then once you actually start, they’re reaching out, you know, hey, do you need assistance. You don’t feel like, uhh, I can’t ask. It’s going to be a silly question.”
Acevedo says they care about what they’re doing …
ACEVEDO … “Every question is valid, and any concern is valid. And they’re there, they were there all the way through. And I think, for that reason, I believed in it from the get-go and now I do even more so.”
