The inaugural cohort of the Working Lands Climate Corps is underway. Gary Blair, president elect of the National Association of Conservation Districts, has more on what this initiative is.

“This is a great project that was put together by USDA and with partnership with NACD, we announced that this past year at our annual meeting through our Deputy Secretary small and Under Secretary Bonnie, they were at our meeting in San Diego. So it's the first group of young leaders have been selected nationwide. They are in place. They are working their boots on the ground, working with farmers and ranchers. They will be providing technical assistance and career pathway opportunities for climate, smart agricultural solutions. And the training is in place. The new climate core group have been hired, and they are working and working closely. NACD is very proud to be a part of that.”

According to the Biden administration, as part of their American climate corps initiative. This initiative aims to ensure more young people have access to the skills based training needed for good paying careers in a clean energy and climate resiliency economy.
