As the Farm Bill progresses, National Farmers Union is also keeping their eye on the agricultural appropriations process for 2025 president of the National Farmers Union, Rob LaRrew,

“June 11, the House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee marked up its 2025, fiscal year bill. It includes a very damaging rider, policy rider, which would eliminate USDA ability to enforce the Packers and Stockyards Act and erode the important fairness provisions that they've put into force over the last few years. Farmers Union stands in great opposition to that rider, as we have in previous attempts to include that rider, we kept it out of the 2024 approps bill. We want to keep it out of the 2025 approps process, so we're activating our members to reach out to their members of Congress, particularly on the Appropriations Committee, to vote no on that bill because of the extremely damaging rider that would be in there, we expect to see a markup on that appropriations bill sometime in July.”

Once again, that is Rob LaRew, president of the National Farmers Union, who says this rider will prevent USDA from enforcing the Packers and Stockyards Act. And if you will continue to provide updates as the appropriations process progresses. As the appropriations process progresses.
