0126 ReGrow Israel: “Giving Week” is Feb 5-9

On October 7th, 2023, Hamas targeted Israel in an attack, with the specific focus of the assault being the communities responsible for supplying 70 percent of Israel’s fresh produce and dairy. These attacks resulted in significant loss of life, disruptions in food security, and labor challenges.

Let’s dive into what that means. The October attacks resulted in the loss of over $500 million in farmer income, damage to nearly 100,000 acres of farmland, destruction or theft of tractors and planters, and a severe labor crisis with the killing and kidnapping of foreign workers, leading to a shortage of over 10,000 experienced farmworkers.

Rachel Cone joins us again to talk more about ReGrow Israel and how the attacks from Hamas has impacted the Israeli agriculture industry.

Rachel Cone is among a small team of volunteers advocating for Israeli farmers through ReGrow Israel, the Farmers Fund.

“We are trying to raise a lot of money. Farmers’ land was completely destroyed, which means their businesses were completely destroyed, and the communities these businesses survive on, were destroyed.”

ReGrow Israel’s Giving Week is from February 5th to the 9th, where you could hear from Israeli farmers over zoom alongside a jam-packed week of events. Go to regrowisrael.org, or visit our website for resource links. Join us next time to hear more about the devastation, and regrowth efforts, of the Israeli farming community.
