Pear Promotions Pt 2
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. More and more people are shopping from home these days and so Pear Bureau Northwest is putting a lot of their promotional efforts for this year’s crop online.Pear Bureau’s Jim Morris says remote shopping, or shopping from home, really picked up during the pandemic …
MORRIS … “Even with produce, that’s always been the challenge with a lot of consumers. They like to be able to choose their own produce, but we’re seeing that consumers are getting a little bit more confident and a little bit more willing to do that.”
And Morris says online shopping is showing little sign of slowing down …
MORRIS … “So, we’re really putting a lot of emphasis on digital. That’s where Millennials and Gen-z are spending their time as well and we want to be sure we’re capturing them since they make up a pretty significant portion of our audience.”
Morris says they also put out a lot of recipes that include pears …
MORRIS … “We actually have two fun projects that we’re working on right now. One with a pair of influencers, they are nutritionists. They’re out of Canada. They’re creating a book for us that will contain several recipes that kids can actually make on their own. And, then a lot of just kitchen hints on how to be safe in the kitchen.”
The kids, Morris says should enjoy that …
MORRIS … “So, looking forward to getting some really fun activity booklets for the kids to be able to download off of our website when it’s ready.”
Other promotions will come as World Pear Day approaches in December.
